Originally constructed in 1907 by the famous course designer JH Taylor, the course has stood the test of time with a revised layout being introduced in 1970 once the Downs – ‘moved up top’ to the present Clubhouse location.
The course offers a unique challenge as a traditional downland course, playing like a links course, whether beginner or master the course offers the right challenge – All year round. It has hosted the Amateur Open, and recently the EGU National Amateur Championship. What better place to learn the game and develop your skills.
Despite the downland the course has been designed as an easy walk, set out over two levels and a great loop. With the remote 6th and 7th our personal favourites with the 7th being the courses signature hole. A lengthy par 5 with trouble left and right, placement and course management is the key testing even the longer hitters.
